Finished Goods Material Handler

Reports to:      Production Supervisor & Shift Lead

Position Summary: The responsibilities of the FG Material Handler include, safely staging product to leadership’s direction, operating overhead cranes and forklifts. There is an expectation to monitor quality of finished product as it is yarded.

 Areas of Accountability:

  • Address quality problems.
  • Requires heavy lifting, loading and unloading.
  • Job entails moving and loading steel members on and off of paint carts, as well as staging in a safe manner in the craneway by job.
  • Critical to be able to take instructions and learn quickly on the job.
  • Maintain a clean yard and take initiative on organization and time tracking of tasks.
  • Diligence with data and quantity tracking of products.
  • Assist in other departments as needed. This can include: painting, paint prep, material handling in various areas of the shop, loading trailers.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have knowledge of applicable safety procedures.
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate computer skills, including e-mail, MS Office applications, and select reporting tools.
  • General Knowledge of Metals (desired)
  • Comfortable with heavy lifting and working in all outdoor environments.
  • Comfortable being on foot for a majority of the shift, walking on uneven terrain and climbing on and off of semi trailers.


  • Knowledge of loading trailers is a plus.
  • Material handling experience is preferred.
